North Bergen Board of Education Trustees Pat Bartoli, Ed LaTour and Luis Rabelo won overwhelmingly in the 2013 school board election, granting each a new three year term. In an unofficial count by the township clerk, Bartoli was the high vote getter with 4,536 votes, followed by LaTour with 3,968 and Rabelo with 3,915. No challenger received more than 783 votes.
Bartoli, LaTour and Rabelo were endorsed by Mayor Nick Sacco and the North Bergen Democratic Municipal Committee.
“This is an extremely strong showing that proves that our organization is working effectively to get out the vote and will remain a force to be reckoned with in future elections,” said Sacco. “I would like to thank everyone who participated in the election and to congratulate Pat, Ed and Luis and wish them good luck in their next term on the Board. Each of them are outstanding board members who care deeply about North Bergen’s children and will work hard to make our district even better.”
The school budget was voted down and will now go to the Board of Commissioners for review. There were 505 Yes votes and 3,519 No votes.
