NICHOLAS J. SACCO FOUNDATION DONATES TAX PREP SERVICES TO 300+ LOCAL SENIORS AND LOW INCOME NORTH BERGEN RESIDENTS

Sacco Foundation, a charitable organization headed by Mayor/State Senator Nick Sacco, donated free tax preparation services to over 300 senior citizens and disabled North Bergen residents over the past two months leading up to tax day on April 15. The initiative is one way that the Foundation is giving back to the community, following its donations to local food pantries in January.

NORTH BERGEN BOARD OF EDUCATION INCUMBENTS WIN RE-ELECTION OVERWHELMINGLY

North Bergen Board of Education Trustees Pat Bartoli, Ed LaTour and Luis Rabelo won overwhelmingly in the 2013 school board election, granting each a new three year term. In an unofficial count by the township clerk, Bartoli was the high vote getter with 4,536 votes, followed by LaTour with 3,968 and Rabelo with 3,915. No challenger received more than 783 votes.

SACCO SPONSORING BILL TO MAKE HUDSON RIVER PUBLIC WALKWAYS ELIGIBLE FOR SHORE PROTECTION FUND ASSISTANCE

The Senate version of the bill is S-2620 while the Assembly version is A-3874.

NORTH BERGEN ADOPTS ORDINANCE TO BAN SMOKING IN PUBLIC PARKS

Mayor Sacco cited a concern for public health, especially that of the many children who frequent North Bergen’s parks, as the driving factor behind the decision.

Sacco Foundation, a charitable organization headed by Mayor/State Senator Nick Sacco, gave back during the holiday season by donating $1,000 each to two local food pantries in Hudson County. Run respectively by Woodcliff Community Church in North Bergen and Holy Redeemer Church in West New York, the food pantries help struggling families in the area by providing meals and bags of food and other goods.
