When Mayor Nick Sacco created “Winterfest” he envisioned an annual event celebrating the Holiday Season that all township families could enjoy. Twenty years later, it has grown into a uniquely North Bergen street festival enjoyed by thousands. This latest edition on December 5th brought nearly 5,000 residents to Bergenline Avenue for a night of Santa Claus, Christmas carols and holiday music, lots of food, games, rides, a petting zoo, gifts, togetherness and great fun!
“Seeing Winterfest develop into such an amazing event and continue to grow every year is truly one of the great joys of my career,” said Mayor Sacco. “It’s great to come together to cheer on our school choruses, enjoy the parade and all of the different events and activities and see so many families and kids have such a good time.”
North Bergen’s Holiday Season doesn’t end with Winterfest. There is also the annual Children’s Christmas Party where bicycles, electronics and toys are distributed to hundreds of local children. Some of North Bergen’s most amazing young people enjoy the Special Needs Christmas Party. The Jewish faith is honored at the annual Township Hall Menorah Lighting Ceremony. All of these occasions help build a strong sense of pride in our home town as we all pause to celebrate the holidays and look forward to a new year with new possibilities.
